BOT Approves FY22 All-Funds Budget, FY23 Budget Recommendations

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approved a Fiscal Year 2022 All-Funds Budget at its Sept. 10 Board meeting, held on the Macomb campus. This budget assumes the FY22 state appropriation of $49.6 million. The University's total operating budget for FY22 is $205.8 million.*

The Board also approved the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriated operating budget and capital budget recommendations, which will be presented to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the General Assembly and Gov. J.B. Pritzker. The Board approved a FY23 recommended appropriated operating budget increase of $18.6 million. The Board approved the FY23 capital budget recommendation of $492.8 million. The capital recommendation includes the WIU-Macomb Science Building Phase II renovation; WIU - Macomb Stipes Hall renovation; WIU-Macomb Education Building construction; WIU-QC Phase III construction; and WIU - Macomb Malpass Library renovation. In addition, a capital renewal budget recommendation of $26.3 million was approved for critical deferred maintenance needs.

"We appreciate our legislators' and Gov. Pritzker's dedication to Illinois public higher education. We will continue to work with the Governor, General Assembly and state leaders to ensure that WIU receives the funding that is necessary to ensure our students' success," said WIU President Guiyou Huang.

The next meeting of the WIU Board of Trustees will be held Dec. 1-2 on the Macomb campus.
