WIU African Diaspora, Black Collegiate (ABC) Graduation Celebration Set for Dec. 8

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Black Faculty and Staff Council (BFSC) will host an African Diaspora, Black Collegiate (ABC) Graduation Celebration from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at WIU's Multicultural Center.

The program will begin at 4:30 p.m. with opening remarks from the BFSC members and WIU administrators, with WIU Music Assistant Professor Alfonzo Cooper singing the Black National Anthem. Graduates will be recognized, and the event will conclude with a moment of silence for those lives lost due to violence.

The Fall 2022 event marks the inaugural African Diaspora, Black Collegiate (ABC) Graduation Celebration hosted by the Black Faculty and Student Council. More than 160 African Diaspora/Black students are graduating from WIU in Fall 2022. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend to recognize and celebrate Western's Black and African Diaspora graduates.

Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Participating graduates are asked to arrive by 4 p.m. Students interested in attending are required to register by Dec. 4 at bit.ly/3UmvYG3.
