October 25 Forum at WIU: More Trade, Not Aid

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University’s College Libertarians, a recognized student organization, will present the forum “More Trade, Not Aid: Market Solutions to Global Poverty” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the University Union Sandburg Lounge. The forum is open free to the public.

Presenter Adam Chacksfield, an assistant professor of political science at Western Illinois, will address such questions as: Do government sponsored foreign aid and development assistance really help the poor? Do restrictions on trade really alleviate poverty and contribute to economic growth? Can free trade and decentralized decision-making extend its benefits to the whole society?

An open question and answer session will follow the initial presentation.
