Oppel Named CBT Adviser

MACOMB, IL – Jean L. Oppel, a senior academic counselor at Oklahoma State University (OSU), has been named an academic adviser in Western Illinois University’s College of Business and Technology (CBT) Academic Advising Center, effective early June, according to Center Director Keith Branham.

She has also served as an academic counselor in foreign languages and literature at Oklahoma State since 2002. Prior to her career in academic advising, Oppel was a residence hall director at OSU. At Western, she will work with students majoring in computer science and business.

“We welcome Jean to the Western community and look forward to her arrival on campus,” Branham said.

She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association and the Oklahoma Academic Advising Association. Oppel earned her masterÂ’s degree in counseling and student personnel from Oklahoma State University and her bachelor of arts in music from Elmhurst College.
