MACOMB, IL - - The Capital Development Board (CDB) has selected Pfeiffer Partners//PSA Dewberry, Los Angeles, CA/Peoria, (IL) as the design architect for the Performing Arts Center (PAC) project at Western Illinois UniversityÂ’s Macomb campus. The architect and engineers selection information is on the CDB website at http://www.cdb.state.il.us/a_and_e.shtml.

Pfeiffer was recommended to the CDB by the campus PAC Quality Based Selection Committee (PAC-QBS), according to Paul K. Kreider, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication and chair of the PAC-QBS Committee.

“The University is pleased the Capital Development Board accepted our recommendation and will begin contract negotiations with the firm,” Kreider said. “Once a contract is finalized, the architects will begin the process of working with representatives of the campus community to create the plans for the PAC.”

Last February Gov. Rod Blagojevich released $4 million in planning funds for the proposed 110,000-square-foot Performing Arts Center. The PAC will house a 1,900-seat proscenium theatre auditorium, a 300-seat thrust stage and a 150-seat studio theatre for student convocations, College of Fine Arts and Communication recitals, Bureau of Cultural Affairs performing arts series events, lectures, graduation ceremonies and local arts and civic functions. The estimated construction cost of the facility to be located in the southwest quadrant of campus is estimated to be $57.8 million.
