MACOMB, IL - - Graduate students planning to march in Western Illinois University’s Fall 2006 Commencement Ceremonies will participate in combined graduate hooding and undergraduate ceremonies, based on their academic college, Saturday, Dec. 16.

The move from the traditional Friday night graduate hooding ceremony to combined Saturday graduate and undergraduate ceremonies are based on small numbers of graduates during the fall semester, according to Barbara Baily, associate provost and director of graduate studies.

“This also gives us the opportunity to move the Academic Honors Convocation and ROTC Commissioning Ceremony back an hour or two on Friday, which should make it more convenient for families traveling into Macomb that day,” Baily added.

Fall Commencement Weekend will begin Friday, Dec. 15 with the 3 p.m. Academic Honors Convocation in Western Hall and the 5 p.m. Army ROTC Commissioning ceremony in the University Union Heritage Rooms.

Saturday, Dec. 16 commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students will be as follows:

  • 9:30 a.m. – College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business and Technology, as well as undergrads in the Board of Trustees/Bachelor of Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies programs;

  • 1 p.m. – College of Education and Human Services and the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
