Hoof & Horn Jackpot Show

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Hoof & Horn Jackpot Show will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at the Roseville (IL) Fairgrounds.

"People from all over the Midwest will show their cattle [steers and heifers] at this show," said Meghan Birdsell, a sophomore agriculture major from Ashland (IL) and co-chair of the show.

Cody Lowderman, a Macomb (IL) native and member of the Lowderman Company Auction, will judge the show. Cash prizes will be awarded to Breed Champions, Grand Champion Heifer and Steer, Reserve Grand Champion Heifer and Steer and Third Place Overall Heifer and Steer.

According to Birdsell, the participants will also be able to earn points for the Illinois Beef Association that will go toward different prizes. Students and faculty from the agriculture department and the Hoof & Horn Club plan and organize the annual Jackpot Show.
