WIU Announces Spring 2008 Graduates

MACOMB, IL - - More than 1,660 students earned degrees after the Spring 2008 semester at Western Illinois University.

Bachelor's degrees were awarded to more than 1,260 students; including 101 students who earned the WIU Board of Trustees-Bachelor of Arts degree (BOT-BA), which is designed for adult students. Master's degrees were awarded to more than 300 students. Post-baccalaureate certificates were awarded to 12 students.

Academic distinction was awarded to undergraduate students who achieved high grade point averages. This includes: Summa Cum Laude, 3.90 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; Magna Cum Laude, 3.75 to 3.89 GPA; and Cum Laude, 3.6 to 3.74 GPA.

Western Illinois, established in 1899, opened the doors to its first students Sept. 23, 1902 on its residential campus located in Macomb in west-central Illinois. The WIU-Quad Cities campus, 70 miles north of Macomb, serves undergraduate and graduate students in the metropolitan Quad Cities area (western Illinois-eastern Iowa).
