Farewell Reception Set for Karmon Runquist

MACOMB, IL -- A farewell reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 in the Western Illinois University Leslie F. Malpass Library Garden Lounge for Karmon Runquist, instructional technology systems manager/webmaster for the WIU College of Arts and Sciences. Runquist will begin her new role as manager of internet technologies at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA on Jan. 5, 2009.

Runquist started her career at Western in 2000 as instructional technology systems manager/ webmaster in University Relations. In that role, Runquist developed and maintained Western's web presence and coordinated web activities across the entire University. She created policies, tools, features and web applications to support the University's overall website development. Runquist was also responsible for developing and implementing crisis communication strategies for Western's website, as well as working with University Marketing to create new marketing strategies. She remained in University Relations until the technology reorganization in January 2008. Runquist transferred to the newly-formed University Technology's Web Support Services as a webmaster, and most recently transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences to serve as the college's webmaster.

At Wentworth, Runquist will oversee the external website, as well as the portal and content management system. She will also serve as a liaison with departments to increase their web visibility and consistency in branding. She will assist other areas in integrating new technologies and provide support for faculty, staff and students related to the internet.
