Services Set for George Shadwick

MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for Western Illinois University Professor Emeritus of History George W. Shadwick, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Shadwick, 77, passed away Aug. 17.

Shadwick joined Western's history department in 1965, where he taught American Revolution, U.S. Surveys and American Colonial History for 32 years. Shadwick and History Professor Emeritus Bob Sutton, who passed away in February, were the co-creators and hosts of the "Illinois Historic Panorama" telecourse, which still airs on UTV Channel 3.

Shadwick is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two sons Christopher (Loleta) Shadwick of Chatham and Guy Shadwick of Macomb, IL; and three daughters Robin (Todd) Cunningham of Macomb, IL; Kate (Jeff) Ford of Bolingbrook, IL; and Sheryl (Bob) Donnell of Macomb.
