MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University employees -- including student workers and graduate assistants -- are invited to walk for their health, as well as for a good cause, on Tuesday, May 4 during the Western Walks-a-Thon. Check-in for the event, which is slated from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., is at the University Union, north entrance. Western Walks-a-Thon is open free to all WIU employees, but donations, which will benefit Samaritan Well, are welcome.

WIU employees can be on a team of one or can recruit fellow employees for a specific team. The goal is to have every team member walk for one hour, whether it is a group walking together or team members walking individually. Teams can walk anytime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded each hour of the event.

In case of rain, Western Walks-a-Thon will be held on the track at the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center.

Registration is due at the Campus Recreation office in the Spencer Student Recreation Center or at the human resources office, Sherman Hall 105, by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 30. Registration forms and more information about the event are available at www.wiu.edu/wellness/westernwalks.php.
