MACOMB, IL – Wendi Mattson, an office support specialist in the department of theatre and dance at Western Illinois University, has been named the WIU June Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to her nominators, "for the past four years Wendi has been unfailingly cheerful, nurturing and hardworking."

"Wendi's job is one of the most demanding on campus. As a departmental secretary, Wendi has an endless list of duties and deadlines," her nominators added. "She has played a major role in keeping the department running, and she has stayed late, come in early and on weekends. She is always present to support the activities of the department beyond the workday."

Mattson began working at Western in July 2006 as a secretary IV in the department. In April 2008 her title was changed to office support specialist.

"We applaud Wendi for the work she does and for always going above and beyond the call of duty," said Tishly Herrington, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Herrington at (309) 298-3157 or e-mail TA-Herrington@wiu.edu.
