"Lasers Avengers" Science Demonstration at WIU Dec. 2

MACOMB, IL – Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the laser and watch the science of Iron Man II at Western Illinois University's 2010 Science Demonstration Show Thursday, Dec. 2.

"Laser Avengers: The Science of Iron Man II and Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Laser," hosted by the physics and chemistry departments, is scheduled for Currens Hall 205. The one-hour show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2.

The show will attempt to reveal some of the secrets behind the power of modern technology and will reveal the power that modern technology has given to mankind, according to Physics Professor Jim Rabchuk. Demonstrations will explore the science of atoms, electricity, magnetism, sound, light and energy.

It will be "Element"ary, yet Simply "Shocking." Watch out for stuff being blown up, sound used as a weapon and lasers playing with light. Snacks will be provided and commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase.
