Seasonal Flu Shot Clinics for Students This Month; Free Shots Available at Designated Clinics While Supplies Last
January 14, 2011
MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Beu Health Center is offering three seasonal flu shot clinics for students this month on the Macomb campus. According to a recent press release by the Illinois Department of Public Health, flu activity in Illinois is increasing, and staff members at Western's Beu Health Center are encouraging students to help prevent the spread of flu by taking advantage of the free seasonal flu shots.
"Although each influenza season is unpredictable, we typically see the peak in January and February," stated Dr. Damon T. Arnold, Illinois Department of Public Health director. "It is not too late to get a flu shot. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and those around you from getting influenza and potentially becoming sick for a week or longer," he added.
Beu Health Center's seasonal flu shot clinics this month will take place from:
- 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, University Union Concourse
- 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, University Union Concourse
- 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, University Union Concourse
Students will need to present their WIU student I.D. cards to obtain the shots, and the free seasonal flu shots will be administered as long as supplies last.
