MACOMB, IL -- Tara Beal, superintendent of grounds-landscape maintenance at Western Illinois University, has been named the WIU April Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to her nominator, "Tara has done an exceptional job in beautifying the WIU campus. This has been accomplished by her landscape designs using a diverse selection of appropriate plant material which emphasizes school colors, as well as native plants."

"She is an invaluable contributor to WIU horticulture classes, and she is always available when called upon to present lectures and fill in for instructors. Every year Tara organizes two "We Care campus beautification events, which require significant planning, and she has been actively involved in making WIU a 'sustainable" campus," her nominator added.

Beal was hired in November 2000 an assistant groundskeeper and in March 2005, she was promoted to campus planner I. She was reclassified to campus planner II in February 2006 and named to her current position in February 2008.

"Tara is to be commended for her work and for her dedication to WIU," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative.
