MACOMB, IL -- Marlin Danner, communications services specialist II in Telecommunications at Western Illinois University, has been named the WIU October Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to his nominator, "Marlin demonstrates the values, assertiveness and dedication to be the Employee of the Month. He is an excellent employee in regards to 'other duties as assigned,' and his knowledge of telecommunications is outstanding. He goes above and beyond, working many evenings so the University residents would have phone lines that worked properly."

"Marlin works well with all of his office mates, and they appreciate his expertise and knowledge in telecommunication for WIU. He always has a smile on his face and is glad to be a part of WIU for students, staff and faculty. His calm demeanor is a great asset as well," his nominator added.

Danner was hired in 1997 as a telecommunications services specialist I, and in 2000, his position title was changed to communications services specialist I. He was reclassified per audit to his current position in 2001.

"Marlin's expertise and his dedication to his job and to the University serves this entire campus," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "It's employees like Marlin that keep Western running behind the scenes. We appreciate his commitment to WIU."
