MACOMB, IL - -Watch Harry Potter magic come to life during Western Illinois University's 2011 science demonstration show, "The Science of Wizardry," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 Currens Hall 205.

The Chamber of Chemistry and the Order of Physics will present a 60 to 90 minute show exploring the science behind magic spells used in the Harry Potter book and movie series.

"The theme of the evening is modern magic, and we will show participants we can already fly through the air, make things come to us and more through the mastery of understanding nature's physical laws," said Physics Professor Jim Rabchuk. "We hope this show convinces people of the power that is already at our fingertips when we understand the way this world works through scientific investigation."

The departments encourage participants to dress as their favorite character from the series. Treats will be provided at the end of the show and commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase.

For more information, contact Rabchuk at (309) 298-2577.
