Tickets on Sale for WIU Soul Food Festival

MACOMB, IL - The 26th annual Soul Food Festival, sponsored by Western Illinois University's Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center (GBCC) as part of Black History Month festivities, will be held from 1 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, in the University Union Heritage Room. This year's event is themed "Sunday Afternoon Jazz Affair," featuring Creole cuisine from the ‘Big Easy,' N'awlins.

This year's menu consists of seafood gumbo (gumbow), Creole jambalaya (jumbalieya), red beans and rice, mixed green salad with vinaigrette dressing, buttermilk cornbread muffins, assorted rolls, beignets (benyay), bread pudding with rum sauce, southern pecan pie, red slush punch, coffee and tea.

Early bird ticket prices are $12/students, $20/non-students and available through Friday, Feb. 10 at 4:15 p.m. After Feb. 10, tickets will be $17/students and $25/non-students.

Tickets can be purchased at Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center during office hours of: Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 - 4:15 p.m.

Student information only: Current students can use their WIU Rocky Dollars to purchase tickets. This must be done in person, with WIU ID, at GBCC during office hours of: Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 - 4:15 p.m. The deadline for a Rocky Dollars purchase is Thursday, Feb. 16, no exceptions.
