Fecht Named January Employee of the Month at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - Holly Fecht, assistant chief accountant at Western Illinois University, has been named the school's January Civil Service Employee of the Month.

Fecht has taken on the responsibility of researching all of the WIU Foundation Office's accounts, which her nominator called a "daunting task" because of the legal duties required.

"She is interrupted many, many times during the day, but always has a smile," her nominator said. "Holly has overwhelming duties and always maintains a positive attitude. She works late hours, especially with year-end and tax-time activities. She also devotes time to tutoring one night a week and teaches one night a week at Carl Sandburg College. She is always looking to make the Foundation Office more efficient, which is evident by the self-appointed project of researching and reorganizing the Foundation scholarship accounts to make sure all funds are being used."

Fecht works closely with department chairs and development officers across campus as well as with Administrative Information Management Systems, submitting requests that will enhance and streamline the foundation processes. She also presents accounting reports to the Foundation Board to keep them informed of accounts and enabling them to make informed decisions.

Fecht was hired at WIU in September 2009 as an accountant in the WIU Development Office. She was later reclassified to an Accountant III and on April 20, 2011, she was named to her current position.

"Holly's work is another example of the various duties that Civil Service employees excel at every day at Western," said Wendi Mattson, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "Her impact on this campus represents the best in educational values that are available at this University."
