Tickets for Gym Class Heroes Show at WIU on Sale Now

MACOMB, IL – The music chart-topping hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes will be in Macomb on April 23 for a concert at Western Illinois University's Western Hall.

Tickets sales begin Wednesday at the Hainline Theatre Box Office in Browne Hall on the WIU-Macomb campus. They can be purchased from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays at the box office or online at wiu.edu/theatre/boxoffice.php.

Advance tickets for students are $5 for balcony seats, $15 for bleachers and $20 standing-room-only on the floor. Prices for non-students are $10 for the balcony, $20 for the bleachers and $25 for the floor. Tickets are $5 more each if bought at the door the night of the show.

Gym Class Heroes has released several albums, including "The Papercut Chronicles I," The Papercut Chronicles II," "As Cruel as School Children" and "The Quilt."

The band is made up of members Travie McCoy, Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo, Eric Roberts and Matt McGinley. According to their biography, they have "established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in pop music, topping the radio charts with hit singles, touring the world, making countless national television appearances and winning multiple music awards, including MTV's 2007 Video Music Award for Best New Artist.

Besides their concert stop in Macomb, the band has another connection to the city that relates to the artwork on two of the band's albums.

WIU 2006 alumnus Evan Leake, who lives in Macomb, has designed the artwork for the album covers for "The Papercut Chronicles" and "The Papercut Chronicles II."

Leake, a Macomb native, is the owner and lead designer for Pale Bird Design Studios and has done artwork for other bands, including Fallout Boy and Trapt.
