Nominations for Employee Recognition Awards Due by April 6

MACOMB, IL – The nominations for the 2012 service awards for employees of Western Illinois University are being accepted through Friday, April 6.
This year the University will present awards for community service and distinguished service. The awards will be presented at the annual Employee Service Recognition Reception Tuesday, April 24.
The Community Service Award is presented for volunteerism or service to any non-profit community organization and should reflect one or more of WIU's core values of academic excellence, educational opportunity, personal growth and social responsibility.
The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to both administrative and civil service employees.
The administrative award is presented for "unusual and significant" contributions to his/her profession, organizational unit or other areas of the University and reflect its core values. Nominees must be Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) members, associate or assistant vice presidents, deans, associate or assistant deans or department chairpersons.
The civil service equivalent of the award acknowledges initiative, innovation and/or dedication of service to Western as reflects the school's core values. Areas of emphasis include job performance, innovative ideas, leading to improved services, contributions to enhancing the positive public image of WIU, ideas to improve safety and contributions to improved efficiency. Up to three awards will be presented to status (certified) Civil Service employees who have three or more years of full-time employment at WIU.
Nominations may be made by any employee or University-recognized group or association. Nominators must receive permission from the person being considered and self-nominations are accepted.
Completed forms can be turned in to the WIU Human Resources office, 105 Sherman Hall. Nomination forms are available at wiu.edu/vpas/ human_resources/documents/Employee_Recognition.pdf.
