Services for former OPS Director Joe Sylvester

A memorial gathering for former Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety Director Joe Sylvester will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Peter Cartwright United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains.
Military honors will be held at 1 p.m., followed by a luncheon at church. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Sylvester, 65, of Pleasant Plains, died May 14 at his home. He was the director of OPS at Western from 1980 to 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Jeremy, Mary and Cassandra; one sister; and four grandsons.
