MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has announced the appointment of Professor Jim Rabchuk as assistant dean for the CAS at WIU's Quad Cities campus.

Rabchuk earned his doctorate in physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995 and joined the WIU physics faculty in 1996. He was promoted to professor in 2007.

In addition to his work in the WIU Department of Physics, where he coordinated the department's successful pre-engineering program, Rabchuk has extensive experience in faculty governance, and he has served as the college's liaison for teacher education programs.

"We are very happy to have Jim join the dean's office for the college, and we are especially pleased that he will represent our first administrative appointment at the Quad Cities campus," said CAS Dean Sue Martinelli-Fernandez. "Jim's leadership and teaching will be a great addition to the talents of the College of Arts and Sciences faculty teaching in the Quad Cities."

Rabchuk will begin his new position July 1.
