MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University students and alumni looking for employment or internship opportunities are invited to attend Western's Fall Career and Internship Fair next month. The annual event, set from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 in the University Union Grand Ballroom, is open free to the public.

According to Assistant Director of the WIU Career Development Center (CDC) Michelle Howe, more than 60 companies will be recruiting for both full-time employment and for internships. A list of participating companies is available at www.student.services.wiu.edu/careers/fair/companies.asp?fairID=27.

"Students from all majors are welcome to attend the fair, and all attendees are required to dress professionally and are encouraged to bring copies of their résumés, as well as research the companies they are interested in networking with," Howe said. "Attendees are also encouraged to meet with a Career Development Center staff member to have their résumés reviewed before the fair."

In order to help students prepare for the career fair, the WIU CDC will host a Career Fair Preparation workshop, which is set to start at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 in the University Union Fox Room. Bob Berdelle, a recruiter from Enterprise, will present tips for career fair success. In addition, the CDC will also be open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. that day (Oct. 6) to assist students with résumés and help them prepare to interact with recruiters.

For those interested in attending graduate school at Western, the School of Graduate Studies is hosting the WIU Graduate Program Expo in conjunction with the career fair. There will be more than 15 graduate programs represented and staff on hand from each to answer questions related to their programs.

The WIU Career Development Center sponsors the annual Fall Career and Internship Fair.
