13th Annual Biology Research Symposium April 2-3 at WIU

MACOMB, IL – The 13th annual Biology Research Symposium will be held Thursday-Friday, April 2-3 at Western Illinois University.

Events kick off at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2 in the University Union's Sandburg Theatre when Rüdiger Bieler of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago will deliver the 2015 Morrow Lecture, "Can we Restore the American Coral Reef? Biodiversity Research and Coral Restoration in the Florida Keys."

The event, sponsored by the WIU College of Arts and Sciences, will be followed by a reception in the University Union's Lincoln Room.

The research portion of the symposium begins Friday, April 3 with oral presentations from 8:30-9:45 a.m. and from 10:15-11:45 a.m. in Waggoner Hall, 378. Bieler will speak again from noon-1 p.m. in Waggoner Hall, 378.

A potluck lunch and dessert competition will be held from 1-2 p.m., and poster presentations run from 1-3:15 p.m. on the second floor of Waggoner Hall. After a group picture at 3:15 p.m., an awards ceremony will be held from 3:30-4 p.m. in Waggoner Hall, 378.
