MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees recently approved an in-state tuition rate for all domestic undergraduate and graduate students.

Previously, the in-state rate was available only to students from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin.

"The School of Graduate Studies is excited to be able to offer in-state tuition to all new domestic graduate students with a legal residence in the United States," said Nancy Parsons, associate provost and director of graduate studies. "This allows domestic graduate students from outside our five state region to study at Western Illinois University at the in-state rate."

The 2016-17 tuition rate, as well as fees, room and meal plan, will remain set under Western's Cost Guarantee program. Tuition, fees, room and meal plan are fixed for a four-year period and remain in effect as long as a student maintains continuous enrollment. Western was the first university in Illinois to offer this guarantee, and is the only university in the state to include fees, room and meal plan in that guarantee.

Fee, room and meal plan rates for 2016-17 will be set at the March 2016 Board of Trustees meeting.

"Western is also the only public university in Illinois to offer a cost guarantee for graduate students," Parsons added.

Western offers 38 graduate degrees, including two doctoral programs, and 22 post-baccalaureate certificate programs.
