MOLINE, IL - The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Social Entrepreneurship Salon will offer a presentation on community foundations at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 on the WIU-QC campus, 3300 River Drive.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held in Riverfront Hall Rooms 103/104. A panel discussion will feature directors of three area community foundations: Joy Boruff of The Moline Foundation, Kelly Thompson of The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, and Josh Gibb of The Galesburg Community Foundation. They will discuss the ways in which they reinvest wealth earned in their communities so that their communities can prosper and grow.

According to James Rabchuk, physics professor and assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Social Entrepreneurship Salon was established at WIU-QC in 2016 to explore ways that entrepreneurship can lead to creative solutions that stabilize and grow communities. This year's series, co-sponsored by Western's College of Arts and Science and College of Business and Technology, has the overall theme of "Community."

"We invite the public to join us in exploring the ways in which entrepreneurship can deliberately and positively impact a community's economic, cultural, social, and environmental well-being," Rabchuk said.

Refreshments will be provided.
