WIU Chapter of Phi Beta Delta Inducts New Members

MACOMB, IL -- The Eta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Delta at Western Illinois University inducted 16 new members during its 11th ceremony Monday, Nov. 12.

The purpose of the Eta Epsilon chapter is to recognize and encourage high professional, intellectual, academic and personal achievements in the field of international education. Applications are accepted year-round and an induction ceremony is held in the spring.

Phi Beta Delta, founded at California State University, Long Beach in 1986, was established as an organization in 1987, with 38 chartered chapters, many of which had existed for a considerable time previously at the local level. It is the first honor society dedicated to recognizing scholarly achievement in international education.

Inductees are:

• Nnaemeka Agunwa, a graduate student in health sciences, from Nigeria

• Damilola Ajayi, a graduate student in political science, from Nigeria

• Hawra Almubarak, a graduate student in biology, from Saudi Arabia

• Janett Arcos, a senior Spanish and French major, from Cicero, IL

• Rocio Ayard Ochoa, the director of Casa Latina, from Macomb

• William Cook, a senior library specialist in the Malpass Library, from Macomb

• Tata Diawara, a graduate student in the Department of Political Science, from Mali

• Lorri Kachinovas, an admissions/records representative in the WIU International Admissions Office, from Macomb

• Vamsi Krishna Kakani, a graduate student in computer science, from India

• Hemangi Mhatre, a graduate student in the school of computer science, from India

• Arafat Olori, a senior biology major, from Chicago, IL

• Kelley Quinn, an instructor in the WIU Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, from Macomb

• Katelyn Shields, a graduate student in the college student personnel program, from Pekin, IL

• Ayomide Tabiti, a senior biology major, who is a dual citizen of the United States and Nigeria

• Alyssa Tillmon, a junior political science major, from Bellwood, IL

• Puneeth Krishna Vadlamudi, a graduate student in computer science, from India
