Annual PAS Gala is Nov. 10 at Western Illinois University

October 23, 2012

MACOMB, IL – The annual Performing Arts Society Gala and Silent Auction, a chance to help raise money to bring in year-round arts programming for area youth, will be Saturday, Nov. 10 at Western Illinois University.

Reservations for this year’s event, a masquerade ball with black tie and masks optional, are now being accepted. The event, sponsored by MidAmerica National Bank, begins at 5 p.m. and includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, dinner and dancing.

Before dinner, guests can peruse a variety of silent auction items, including a trip to Chicago to see the play, “Book of Mormon,” a week’s stay in Marathon Key in the Florida Keys, three nights in a Lincoln Park condominium, tickets to a variety of Chicago Symphony events and other fine art, sports memorabilia and housewares items.

For dinner, guests can choose from pork loin chasseur, chicken roulade or sautéed portabella mushroom with capers and white wine, with all meals accompanied by salad and dessert of amaretto pound cake with fresh berries.

After dinner, Chicago's Park Avenue Orchestra will entertain with music ranging from jazz and swing to Motown, oldies and contemporary pop/rock.

All proceeds from the silent auction support the Performing Arts Society (PAS) Youth Performing Arts Series (YPAS), which offers live arts performances on the WIU campus to area K-8 school children at no cost to the schools. PAS also funds scholarships for students to attend the Summer Music Institute at WIU; it supports the Bureau of Cultural Affairs; and it supports the Academic Support Program grants, which brings arts opportunities to the campus and community.

Tickets are $70 a person. Corporate tables are available at $90 and $100 a seat. For more information or to make reservations, call (309) 298-1618.
