WIU to Hold Supply Chain Management Day

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University College of Business and Technology's Department of Management and Marketing will host its annual Supply Chain Management (SCM) Day Monday, Sept. 30 on the Macomb campus.
The event fosters interaction between employers, current and prospective SCM majors and WIU faculty and staff. The program will also celebrate surpassing 120 majors and pre-majors in the field and awarding a record number of scholarships.
The event is expected to bring in approximately 20 employers recruiting for SCM internships and full-time career positions.
The guest speaker at this year's SCM Day is Thomas E. Knoll, vice president of Worldwide Supply Management and Logistics for John Deere. He is responsible for leadership of all global supply management and logistics activities for the company.
Knoll joined the company in 1980 as an engineer at John Deere Harvester Works and has also worked as director of Supply Management for the Worldwide Construction and Forestry Division at John Deere Dubuque Works, director of Worldwide Supply Management Operations for Deere and Company and operations manager for John Deere Harvester Works.
He received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from North Dakota State University and his MBA from Clarke College.
The schedule for SCM Day includes an Advisory Board meeting in the morning between corporate representatives and SCM faculty, then a SCM Day Career Fair from noon – 4:45 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom and a dinner with employer representatives, students and faculty and staff in the WIU Multicultural Center at 5 p.m. Knoll speech, titled, "Megatrends and Supply Chain Risk" begins at 6 p.m. in the Multicultural Center.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required by Sept. 15. Registration forms and additional information are available at wiu.edu/scm.
