Chamber Concert Comes to WIU March 20

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University School of Music Faculty Assistant Liang-yu Wang and Belgian cellist Thomas Landschoot will perform in the COFAC Recital Hall Thursday, March 20.
The program includes Beethoven's "7 Variations for Cello and Piano WoO.46, Strauss' "Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 6" and Brahms' "Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, Op. 114," which will also feature WIU clarinet Professor Eric Ginsberg.
As a duo, Wang and Landschoot have performed together throughout three continents. Their newest CD "Balabille" on ArchiMusic, containing the sonatas of Debussy, Poulenc and Chopin, was released in January 2012.
Landschoot is a professor of cello at Arizona State University and has an international career as a concert and recording artist. He has won numerous performance awards and performs around the world and is the artistic director of the Sonoran Chamber Music Festival and president of the Arizona Cello Society.
Wang also actively performs around the world and has been featured as a guest artist at several chamber music organizations in Arizona. She has also collaborated with numerous artists and teaches chamber music master classes in the United States and Taiwan.
During Landschoot's visit at WIU, he will also give a cello master class on Wednesday, March 19 at 3 p.m., also in the COFAC Recital Hall.
Both the concert and the master class are free admission and open to public.
The events are co-sponsored by the WIU School of Music, Visiting Lecture Committee and the Council on Student Activities Funds.
