April 7, 2014
MACOMB, IL – Larkin High School senior Darlene Lewandowski, of Elgin (IL), has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.
High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.
Lewandowski said she is considering majoring in dietetics at Western, with a minor in Spanish.
Lewandowski said she became interested in Western "because it was the only school that appreciated the hard work and dedication I have put into my schooling and grades."
At Western, Lewandowski would like to participate in theatre-related events.
In high school, Lewandowski participated in her school's drama academy, student government, peer tutoring and was secretary of the Thespian Society.
After graduation from WIU, Lewandowski plans to pursue a graduate degree and eventually become a dietitian, specializing in patients with eating disorders.
