Nine Inducted Into Lambda Pi Eta

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - Nine students were inducted into Western Illinois University's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the National Communication Association's student honor society, in an April 21 ceremony in Memorial Hall on the WIU-Macomb campus.
The ceremony, hosted by the WIU Department of Communication and the Pi Pi chapter of LPH, honored Stephanie Ackermann, a junior communication major from Macomb; Dylan Bilyeu, a senior psychology major, communication minor from Taylorville (IL); Melissa Burbano, a junior communication major from LaHarpe (IL); Sidney Colbert, a junior social work major, communication minor from Jacksonville (IL); Hayley Delia, a senior communication major from Chicago (IL); Emily Douglas, a junior communication major from Chicago (IL); Janea Preston, a junior communication major from Macomb; Leah Sanders, a junior communication major from Rockford (IL) and Evan Streitmatter, a senior communication major from Wyoming (IL), for scholastic achievement.
A second ceremony and reception is slated for 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 at the WIU-QC Riverfront campus, room 118, where WIU-QC students Kathleen Hillyer, a senior liberal arts and sciences major and communication minor from Rock Island (IL) and Kara Widel, a senior communication major from Maquoketa (IA), will be inducted.
Communication majors and minors with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA (grade point average), a 3.25 GPA in communication (with a minimum of 12 hours in communication) who have also accumulated at least 60 hours are eligible for membership in the organization.
LPH, founded in 1985, is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association and an accredited member of the Associate of College Honor Societies. With more than 400 active chapters and more than 5,000 members nationwide, LPH recognizes, fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while promoting interest in the communication discipline.
Advisers for the Pi Pi chapter are Professor Judi Dallinger, Associate Professor Mary Hogg and Instructor Kevin Menken.
