Annual WIU Marching Band Classic is Oct. 29

MACOMB, IL – The 35th annual Western Illinois University Marching Band Classic, for high school bands, will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 on WIU's Hanson Field.

The event is a field competition in a two-division championship format. Overall champion trophies will be awarded in the small school division (Classes 1A and 2A), as well as in the large school division (Classes 3A and 4A). Trophies will be awarded to participating bands for placement in each class, as well as for best drum major or majors, percussion, winds and auxiliaries.

High schools participating in this year's event include:

Class 1A (Small school division):
11:15 a.m. – Galva Junior-Senior High School
11:30 a.m. – Prophetstown High School
11:45 a.m. – Lewistown High School
Noon – Blue Ridge High School
12:15 p.m. Hamilton High School

Class 2A (Small school division):

12:45 p.m. – Orion High School
1 p.m. – Auburn High School
1:15 p.m. – Pleasant Plains High School
1:45 p.m. – Clark County High School
2 p.m. – Macomb High School

Class 3A (Large school division):
3 p.m. – Richmond Burton High School
3:15 p.m. – Jacksonville High School
3:30 p.m. – Metamora High School
3:45 p.m. – Illinois Valley High School
4 p.m. – Rochelle High School
4:15 p.m. – Mattoon High School
4:30 p.m. – King College Prep
4:45 p.m. – Mahomet Seymour High School
5 p.m. – East Peoria High School

Class 4A (Large school division):
6:30 p.m. – Naperville North High School
6:45 p.m. - LaSalle-Peru High School
7 p.m. – Moline High School
7:15 p.m. – Limestone High School
7:30 p.m. – Edwardsville High School
7:45 p.m. - Davenport Central High School
8 p.m. – Kaneland High School
8:15 p.m. – Quincy High School
8:30 p.m. – Rock Island High School

WIU's Marching Leathernecks will perform at 8:30 p.m. Admission to the Classic is $8 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens and children under age 5 are admitted free. WIU students will be admitted free with valid student identification.
