WIU Broadcasting Students Bring Home State Awards

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University broadcasting students brought home 10 awards from the Students of Illinois News Broadcasters Association (SINBA) Convention in April.

Senior broadcasting and journalism double major Alex Degman (Northbrook, IL) won first place in radio news reporting, first place in newscast for Western's Tri States Public Radio' s "Afternoon Edition" and second place for use of sound.

Alex Heuer (Swansea, IL), a senior history major and Pre-Law Honors minor, took first place in the use of sound, second place in radio news reporting and second place in the soft radio program category for "Emphasis."

Kyle Dierking, (Chatham, IL), a December 2007 broadcasting graduate with a minor in journalism, placed first for TV sports reporting. Senior broadcasting major and journalism minor Nick Moron (Milan, IL) received third place in videography.

Western Wire placed second in the soft TV program; and Western's "Pigskin Preview" received third place for sports TV programming.
