Study Abroad Fair Set for Sept. 2
August 26, 2009
MACOMB, IL - - Learn about the exciting educational opportunities around the world at Western Illinois University's Center for International Studies Ninth Annual Study Abroad Fair.
The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 in the University Union Plaza (directly north of the Union). In the event of rain, the fair will be held in the University Union Sandburg Lounge.
According to staff from the study abroad office, several WIU faculty members will be available at the fair to discuss their groups' programs.
"In addition, staff from the study abroad program will be on hand to talk about exchanges, scholarships, financial information and general study abroad opportunities," Kim McDaniel, study abroad adviser, said.
Representatives from the American Institute for Foreign Study, AustraLearn, Cultural Experiences Abroad, International Studies Abroad, Institute for Study Abroad and Edge Hill College will also attend the fair.
Emily Gorlewski, study abroad office assistant director, noted that study abroad is available for all majors and does not have to delay a student's original graduation date plan.
"A lot of students don't realize that there are many study abroad programs that don't cost much more than studying on campus," Gorlewski said. "It does take careful planning, but the experience can be one that students will remember for a lifetime."
The Study Abroad Fair is open free to the public; students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.
