Jazz Studio Orchestra Tour and Nov. 19 Concert

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's Jazz Studio Orchestra is on tour and performing in the Quad-Cities and Chicago area, visiting six high schools, before returning to perform at WIU Thursday, Nov. 19.

The Jazz Studio Orchestra (JSO) performance sites include: Davenport (IA) Central High School, Pleasant Valley High School (Bettendorf, IA), Bolingbrook High School (IL), Oak Park/River Forest High School (Oak Park, IL), Wheeling High School (IL) and Beloit Memorial High School (WI).

Director of Jazz Studies John Cooper and the JSO will visit alumni D.J. Alstadt at Naperville Central High School (IL) and David Fodor at Evanston High School (IL) to perform with the bands. The tour also includes performances at Chicago's Jazz Showcase and Club Boo Coo in Evanston.

JSO's Thursday (Nov. 19) concert at 7:30 p.m. in the College of Fine Arts and Communication Recital Hall will feature guest artist and world renowned saxophonist Chris Collins. The guest artist will also present a workshop for students. Collins' appearance is supported by Western's Visiting Lectures Committee.

The Nov. 19 concert is open free to the public.
