Robert J. Cook (Secretary), Macomb, IL; appointed 2006

Robert J. Cook was appointed to the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees February 3, 2006. Cook retired from WIU as a Professor of Educational Administration & Supervision and member of the graduate faculty in 2002. He began his years of service on the WIU faculty in 1967. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration with minor in Human Relations from St. Louis University (1967), an M.A. in City School Administration from Truman State University (1962), and a B.S. in Education (Political Science) from Truman State (1959).

Cook began his education tenure as a social studies instructor and acting principal in 1961 in Missouri. He was also the administrative assistant to the superintendent of the Parkway School District in St. Louis. He has also taught at St. Louis University and Central Washington State University.

Robert Cook.His professional service includes serving as President of the University Division, Illinois Education Association; President of the Illinois Association of Teacher Educators; WIU faculty representative to the Faculty Advisory Council of the IBHE; and he was a member of the Illinois State Senate’s Task Force on Governance of Higher Education. He has also been an active member of the Macomb community serving in various community and civic organizations. Cook was Chairman of the McDonough County Democratic Central Committee and President of the McDonough County Labor Council AFL-CIO.
