J. Michael Houston, Springfield, IL; appointed 1997 (Chairperson January 2004 - June 2006)

J. Michael Houston was appointed to the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees in May 1997. He is currently President and CEO of Town & Country Bank in Springfield. Prior to that Houston served 17 years at Bank One, Illinois, NA, including as senior vice president responsible for the investment management group in the central Illinois region. He also served as mayor of Springfield from 1979 to 1987.

Michael Huston.A Springfield native, Houston is a member of the Board of Directors of St. John’s Hospital, the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the Springfield and Sangamon County Economic Development Council and Downtown Springfield Inc. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Symphonic Orchestra and the Executive Board of the Abraham Lincoln Council of the Boys Scouts of America.

He received his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and his MBA from the University of Illinois.
