Steven L. Nelson (Vice Chair), Moline, IL; appointed 2006

Steven L. Nelson was appointed to the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees on February 3, 2006. A graduate of WIU, he earned a B.A. at Western in 1970 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Drake University in 1976. He is a partner in the law firm of Snyder, Park & Nelson, P.C. of Rock Island and licensed to practice law in Illinois and Iowa. Nelson is a member of the Illinois and Iowa State Bar Associations, as well as the Rock Island County (Illinois) and Scott County (Iowa) Bar Associations, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Steve Nelson.Nelson served on the Western Illinois University Foundation Board (1984-2006). He is a past president of the Foundation and recently served on the Executive and Scholarship Committees.  He is President of the Skills Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, Moline. In addition, Nelson has served as a WIU Adjunct Professor of Business Law at the Quad Cities campus and taught social studies in Quad Cities-area schools.

Steve, his wife and two daughters reside in Moline. He periodically lectures safety groups, business organizations, and bar associations on workers’ compensation and bankruptcy issues.
