Assistant to the President for Governmental Relations
The basic mission of Governmental Relations at WIU is to seek support in a variety of forms for the university, to promote current and future practices and programs, and to facilitate the exchange of information both internally and externally.
As a state-supported public university, the primary focus of this division's efforts is at the state level, interacting with the General Assembly, the Governor, the various state agencies, and the Illinois Board of Higher Education. Additional activities are conducted with a variety of federal and local government agencies and officials, and with individuals representing other Illinois educational institutions.
About the Office
Governmental Relations at Western Illinois University is a functional extension of the Office of the President, and is currently directed by Jeanette Malafa.
