Strategic Planning Committee (updated June 7, 2004)

An updated copy of the University’s strategic plan is ready for review. The University Planning Committee worked during the Fall 2003 semester to elicit feedback on the initial draft of the plan. In November 2003, the committee reconvened to review feedback and make changes to the plan. The strategic plan was revised to reflect the feedback from focus groups, open meetings and comments submitted to the UPC website. The plan was then presented to and approved by the WIU Board of Trustees at the March 2004 board meeting.  The plan was also given the title, “Higher Values in Higher Education:  A Plan for Western Illinois University.”

Phase II of the planning process involves identifying those responsible for defining implementation strategies and resources needed to meet the goals of the plan. The posted copy of the plan includes a listing of the members of the University community identified as the responsible parties.  Where possible, established groups, councils and committees are identified to help define implementation strategies and then return to the University community for another review of the plan in early Fall 2004.

Phase III will then require prioritizing our strategies and implementing an ongoing plan for review and evaluation of our progress.

We would like to thank the University community for its continued involvement and interest in the plan. Questions, comments and information for the committee should be forwarded to co-chair and facilitator of the committee, Kathy Cavins, Associate Vice President for Student Services, Email: KM-Cavins@wiu.edu.
