Illinois Early Intervention (EI) Training Program

The Illinois Early Intervention Training Program provides training opportunities for early intervention professionals providing services to infants and toddlers in Illinois. This is a program through the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) Association of Greater Chicago funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services Bureau of Early Intervention. Since July 2002, UCP has been responsible for providing all required EI trainings to providers in the state of Illinois. Required trainings include, EI Systems Overview, Service Coordination/Parent Liaison, EI Evaluation/Assessment, and Cornerstone trainings. UCP also provides continuing professional education workshops and regional conferences that are credited for EI credential renewal.

On this website you will not only find a comprehensive listing of future EI trainings, and previously approved trainings, but also processes for obtaining pre/post EI credit approval for training not offered through the Illinois EI Training Program. An online registration is also available.

In 2004, the Illinois EI Training Program also launched a mentoring program. They are looking or professionals who both are interested in acting as a mentor as well as professional desiring to be mentored in a particular specialty. There is an application process for both. This information can also be found on their website.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**

On the front page of the current EI Training News in the first paragraph of the second column there is a statement that is confusing to providers. The statement is, "All providers credentialed before July 1, 2007 will need to document completion of the 4 core areas when they submit their application for renewal." The statement left out "after July 1, 2007." Current providers that are renewing do not need to document the core areas for renewal purposes at this time. They must document it when they renew AFTER July 1, 2007.
