President's New Student Convocation

WIU faculty, staff, and students will officially welcome new undergraduate students and their families to Western Illinois University at the August 16, 2019, New Student Convocation.  The ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m.

All incoming freshmen and transfer students should plan to attend this ceremony, which is designed to promote Western's values -- academic excellence, educational opportunity, personal growth, and social responsibility. Convocation is also a time to share in the rich traditions and history of the University.

Mayor of Macomb Mike Inman, Student Trustee Justin Brown, Program Director of Casa Latina Rocio Ayard Ochoa, Associate Professor of Political Science MaCherie Placide, and Acting President Martin Abraham will present remarks. Interim Provost and Academic Vice President Billy Clow will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
