Dr. Cronkhite is a professor and former chairperson of the LEJA School. He served as police officer through deputy chief with the Los Angeles Police Department and as chief of the Santa Ana Police Department in California. He also was vice president and chief of security for Columbia Finance in Beverly Hills, and director of the Center for the Administration of Justice at the University of Southern California.
He has been an adjunct professor for more than 25 years, and a full-time academician for the past 18 years (15 years at WIU). He teaches courses in criminal justice, management, ethics and values, policing issues, research methodology, and future trends at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has authored several textbooks, and more than 50 articles on criminal justice issues.His latest textbook is Criminal Justice Administration, Strategies for the 21st Century. (Jones and Bartlett Publishers).
He received his doctorate (1991) and master (1973) of public administration degrees from the University of Southern California and bachelor of arts (1969) in criminal justice administration from the California University at Los Angeles.
