WIU-Quad Cities New Student Orientation

Welcome to Western Illinois University-Quad Cities!

New Student Orientation (NSO) is where you begin your life as a Leatherneck at WIU-QC! Whether you are a first year or a transfer, undergraduate or graduate student, NSO will be an exciting experience where you can get ready for both your in class and out of classroom experiences, meet current students, staff, and faculty, and begin friendships with other new students.

ALL incoming students are encouraged to select an NSO date (see below) that fits your schedule and register online (on your right). Check in begins at the start times below, please plan to arrive no later than a half hour after the start time. Family members are welcome to join you at this event.

Come prepared to learn and connect! Here’s what we have in store for you:

  • Opportunity to take a campus tours and get your ID and parking pass
  • Student Organization Fair and Campus/Community Information Fair
  • Spanish Placement exam – for those interested in taking or minoring in Spanish
    • Exam will be given in RF 116 during the first hour of orientation, please give yourself ½ hour to complete. For more information: Spanish at WIU
  • Welcome and entertainment
  • Information sessions on:
    • Financial Aid and Scholarships
    • College Wise at WIU-QC (Undergraduate)
    • Computing/Western Online Info
    • Graduate School Survival and Policies/Procedures (Graduate)
  • Light meal and conversation time with students, staff and faculty
  • Academic breakouts with advisors and faculty
