Yoga for Every Body

Free Weekly Yoga Classes at QC 60th Street Building

Join the QC campus community this Spring for a weekly FREE yoga class, taught by Dr. Andrea Hyde.

When: Spring 2012, Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm (excluding campus holidays)
Where: Quad Cities 60th Street Building, Room 115
What to bring: Wear comfortable, snug fitting clothing that does not constrict your movement or breathing. We will heat up and cool down, so you may want to dress in layers. We will have a limited amount of mats, blankets, straps and blocks. Please bring your own yoga mat, if you have one, and a bottle of water.

What is yoga?

Yoga is a science: an ancient methodology of mind-body-breath exercise that enhances physical and mental health. Yoga can help you achieve a specific goal: physical fitness, mental clarity, relaxation, academic achievement or emotional management. These outcomes have been documented in scientific studies from around the world.

What Style of Yoga?

YogaFit® is based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga. It blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. This format is practical, understandable, and doable by individuals at any level of fitness. We will practice yoga breathing and a sequence of standing and sitting asanas (poses), along with some basic stretches and core strengthening exercises. At the end of every class, there will be a period of guided relaxation. Students will learn a basic vinyasa flow which incorporates variations on the Sun Salutation.
