Student Activities
Student life at WIU-QC can be more than coursework. Students can develop their potential at WIU-QC with a variety of activities and organizations. Through student organizations, WIU-QC students take social responsibility seriously, giving back to the community in a variety of ways.
Association of Latin American Students
The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS), an organization for all students, supports recreational, cultural, and educational activities that promote Hispanic/Latino culture and diversity awareness.
Black Student Association
The Black Student Association (BSA) works to promote the general welfare of all Black students, to maintain high scholastic standards, and to nurture unity among Black people. The organization also provides an opportunity for the campus in general to broaden awareness and knowledge of the African American culture.
Honors Program
Targeting academically talented students, the WIU-QC Honors Program revolves around the production of a portfolio that documents a variety of mentored honors experiences, including research collaboration with faculty or community professionals, internships, involvement in volunteer organizations, presentations at professional conferences, as well as a host of other creative opportunities.

Study Abroad
WIU-QC students can explore the world with study abroad opportunities and earn academic credit in more than 100 programs around the world. Students can participate in a short-term study abroad experience or stay for a semester or full academic year.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) provides students with a voice in governance and a forum to express opinions about the University's traditions, ideas, and affairs. The SGA represents the wishes of the student body to University administrators and staff.
WIU-QC Emissaries
Specifically chosen by faculty and staff, emissaries serve as student ambassadors and assist with planning and implementing the New Student Orientation, serve as mentors for Scott Community College and Black Hawk College students, and participate in college fairs at local high schools and community colleges.
Western Outlook Newspaper
WIU-QC's monthly student newspaper, the "Western Outlook," has positions for editors, writers, photographers, and graphic designers.
Veterans Club
This club is open to all WIU-QC students, including veterans and non-veterans. This group will serve as a resource for information about veterans' benefits, promote camaraderie and friendship, and offer opportunities for various extracurricular functions. Contact information - VeteransClub@wiu.edu.
Student Professional Organizations:
Society of Accountancy
The Society of Accountancy (SOA) prepares its members to meet the upcoming challenges of pursuing an accounting or business career. It explores the accounting profession with a focus on newly created fields. The society offers interesting speakers, interactive meetings, and community service. The SOA sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program each spring.
Society of Educators
The Society of Educators (SOE) brings together teacher education students at WIU-QC and Black Hawk College to encourage academic achievement, foster the development of professional attitudes, and promote dialogue between students, faculty, and the community. The SOE coordinates the WIU-QC Block Party each fall and the Scholastic Book Sale.
Student Recreation Association
The Student Recreation Association (SRA), designed for students in the recreation, park and tourism administration program, assists with the creation of recreation experiences and events for WIU-QC students, staff, and faculty. SRA events include a children's Halloween party, a QC Flames (formerly Mallards) Night at the iWireless Center, and an annual spring conference.
Counseling Association
The Western Illinois University Quad Cities Counseling Association (QCCA) enhances the educational experience of graduate counseling students and works to help students further their counseling skills and interest in counseling. QCCA participates in community service initiatives and hosts "Manage Your Stress Week" during final exams.
Society of Business and Technology
The Society of Business and Technology works to develop an interest in business and technology among students by hosting guest speakers on a variety of topics, organizing events that benefit WIU-QC and the surrounding community, and providing networking and placement opportunities with Quad Cities employers.
WIU-QC Biology, Zoo and Aquarium Grad Student Organization
The WIU-QC Biology, Zoo and Aquarium Grad Student Organization seeks to enrich the education of its members with hands-on experiences relating to biology, zoos, and aquaria.

Beta Alpha Psi
Beta Alpha Psi is the national business and financial information fraternity for accounting and information management students.
Chi Sigma Iota
Chi Sigma Iota is the international honor society for counseling students, counselor educators, and professional counselors.
Blue Key Honor Society
Blue Key honors students who have successfully combined academic achievement and leadership. A minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average is required.
Golden Key International
Golden Key is an international academic honor society which recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among University students from all academic disciplines. The society awards its members more than $400,000 annually through 17 different scholarship and award programs.
Knappa Delta Pi
This International Honor Society in Education provides new academic growth and development opportunities for graduate and undergraduate education majors.
