"This work is a series of three canvases created over the course of six months.  The canvases are meant to be view together as one piece.  I created this work to capture my emotion over an extend period and together the canvases come together to tell a story.  The story of what it means to you is for you to decide."

The Sorcerer's New Apprentice

The Sorcerer's New Apprentice by Jason Welvaert

8" x 12"
marker, collage, ink, colored pencil on Bristol Board
Price: $50

"I like to invent "mash-ups" where iconic characters are put into different situations to give the composition an interesting twist and with playful humor. Being a Disney and Star Wars fan, made this work fun to put together. With cartoons, an exaggerated palette of colors can be used naturally for a sense of the fantastical."

Mr. Pennywhinkle

ink, colored pencil, marker on Bristol Board
Price: $70

"I wanted to draw a fun multi-colored absurd Mr. Monopoly- type man displaying the cute absurdity wealth can bring about. He is riding an extinct psychedelic type of Dodo bird or toucan like vehicle and is on his way to his hot air balloon that will take him to his home on top of Mount Shasta."

Escaping the Rain, Souk, Marrakech, Morocco

Escaping the Rain, Souk, Marrakech, Morocco by Cadena Trusty

16" x 24"
Color Photography, on canvas
$125

"I have had the amazing opportunity to live all over the world and I enjoy capturing scenes through photography, to share with others. The world shows us nature, faith, history and humanity. I am drawn to "the other," other places, other people, other experiences. I love to get lost on adventures and see the other side of places, the alleys, neighborhoods and corners that the tours don't take people."

Glow

Glow by Andrea Rosales

16 1/2" x 12 1/2"
Acrylic Paint
$10

"This is a piece done with acrylic paints, I used only black and white acrylic paints. I mixed and blended them multiple times to create different variations of hues, thus creating a glowing illusion. I also decided to make it a more abstract painting by choosing various irregular shapes."

Yesenia

Yesenia by Andrea Rosales

20" x 14 1/4"
Adobe Photoshop
NFS

"This is a realist painting I made of my friend. I used Adobe Photoshop's digital paints and brushes to paint a realistic painting of her. I used one of her selfies to base my painting off of, but I decided to make a lot of changes from her original picture. I changed her outfit, added an arm, changed her eye color and added longer lashes. I then printed it out and then mounted it on a black foam board."

Full Palette

"I’m influenced by surrealist and abstract expressionist artists who explore the self-consciousness and create abstract imagery, which is the use of ideas or nonrepresentational forms rather than events or recognizable imagery. These abstractions themselves can manifest within reality, by the breaking down of recognizable forms to make the imagery. My working process begins with identifying and researching a historical process in order to reinterpret it in a contemporary way. Many of the techniques explored in my work reflect a surrealist or abstract expressionist approach to spatial depth, symmetry, balance, and color theory to create a believable space that expresses a form or even idea that has no real physical manifestation. I like to combine the careful intentions of symmetrical and perspective art with the free, automatic flow of surreal and abstract thought. "

The Sun is a Flower #morningwalk

The Sun is a Flower #morningwalk by Kristi Mindrup

"There is beauty to be found in everyday routine.  Back in 2013, I set out to capture a daily photograph of one unique flower during my morning walk. Walking a similar path through my neighborhood each day, I expected to capture no more than twenty flowers.  After over 100 walks, I was surprised to discover a new, unique flower every morning.  I have photographed and posted to Instagram a flower every day during the growing season every year since, and found this summer sunflower on July 18, 2018.  Intentionally searching for and finding flowers has shown me there is unexpected beauty everywhere when you seek it, to appreciate the small details of the world around me, and to begin every day with a simple joy that can be shared with others."

Landmark

Landmark by Michael Carton

8" x 14"
Oil on canvas
$100

"On Fridays at Hy-Vee, patrons are faced with an important choice that may quite possibly affect the trajectory of their entire weekend. Customers walk into the Wine & Spirits department and ask themselves, 'Should we spend an evening with friends drinking a box of wine, or should we go with a nice bottle?'"

"Both cost about the same and usually result in a perfectly pleasant gathering, but the decision to go with a box of wine will likely produce a much more colorful evening due to the sheer volume - which seems to be never ending. The decision to consume a fine bottle of wine will typically result in a much more classy, albeit shorter, gathering. These two paintings (one black-and-white, the other colorful) represent the choices we are faced with in the Wine & Spirits department of Hy-Vee.  Neither choice is wrong.  Cheers!"
