Quad Cities Campus
Liberal Arts & Sciences Student Organization (LASSO)
The Liberal Arts and Sciences Students of Western Illinois University-Quad Cities have established LASSO (Liberal Arts & Sciences Student Organization) for the purpose of enriching the academic, cultural, political, and social life for Liberal Arts and Sciences undergraduate and graduate students of WIU-QC. We accomplish this through sponsoring different events throughout the semester which are open for all students on campus to attend. The events LASSO organizes include a dinner and lecture night at Augustana, serving a meal at the men’s shelter in Rock Island, and Darwin Day to celebrate Charles Darwin’s birthday along with his contributions to the arts and sciences. We also host a chartered bus trip to Chicago to visit a museum voted on, a panel discussion talking about marketing your LAS degree, bake sale to promote Women's History Month, and sponsoring the Research Evening at the Butterworth Center. LASSO holds monthly meetings and invites anyone who is interested in learning more about the organization to attend.
LASSO Advisor is Dr. James Rabchuk.
